Joel Feldman: Hi, I'm Joel Feldman. I'm a partner at Anapol Schwartz.
Why are so many people injured on properties? Why are so many people injured on sidewalks, steps, in elevators, on escalators, on playgrounds, and other business properties? Could it be that maybe the people aren't paying attention? Could be, but I'd like to tell you what I've learned over 20 years of handling these cases.
More often than not, owners of properties just don't take those basic steps to make their properties safe for those people who are on the property. Regular maintenance of elevators and escalators, cleaning up spills, shoveling snow, throwing salt out, these are the types of measures that if taken, can prevent injuries. Most of these things are just common sense.
However there are also very strict rules and standards that property owners have to follow in order to make their property safe. We use engineers, architects, and other experts who rely upon these rules in order to prove our cases.
Properties can and must remain safe. If you or a family member has been injured on someone's property, give me a call, email me. Ask me any questions you have, we'd be happy to answer those for you.
